TAMBO UPPER PRIMARY SCHOOL SITE EXPANDED TO ACCOMMODATE GROWING ENROLMENTS

Friday, 3 March 2017

The Andrews Labor Government has extended the Tambo Upper Primary School site to accommodate growing enrolments at the school.

On Saturday 25 February the Department of Education and Training purchased a 1.8 hectare site immediately adjacent to the school on Tambo Upper Road at auction for $160,000.

Tambo Upper Primary School has seen a steady growth over the last 35 years with more rapid growth in the last five years.

In 1980 the enrolment at the school was 17 students. Enrolments grew to 68 students in 2011 and have reached 99 students in 2017.

Until now the school has operated on a small and constrained site of only 0.4 hectares. The purchase of the adjacent site will bring the total school site size to 2.2 hectares.
The additional land will allow the school to have an expanded student play area.

If enrolments continue to grow, additional buildings can be accommodated on the expanded site.

experiencing growth as well.”

“This investment will ensure that students will have ample space for sport and physical activity and the school has room to continue to grow.”

“The Education State is more than a slogan – it means ensuring every Gippsland community has access to a great school, which is exactly what we are delivering at Tambo Upper Primary School.”
