SAFETY UPGRADE FOR LARDNERS TRACK RAIL BRIDGE

1 June 2016

Work to strengthen the Lardners Track rail bridge between Warragul and Drouin and make it safer for motorists has begun.

Harriet Shing, Member for Eastern Victoria, welcomed the start of works, which will reinforce the bridge over the Gippsland line and make it more durable.

New crash barriers will also be installed as part of the project, to improve safety for motorists.

Works began last week, and will be carried out between 7:00pm and 7:00am on weekdays until 23 June. During this time the bridge will remain open, however, short delays can be expected.

The works are being delivered by Victorian rail asset owner VicTrack on behalf of the Andrews Labor Government.

They are part of a $1.5 million program of works that is also upgrading rail bridges in Stawell, Ouyen and Wangaratta.
