PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE OF TRARALGON

Thursday 18  May 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is planning for the future of the Princes Highway East to reduce congestion, boost access and safety for Traralgon.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing has announced $250,000 for the Princes Highway East – Bank Street and Breed Street intersections upgrades.

Traralgon has seen growth on the Princes Highway East, which provides a vital link through Gippsland, connecting Melbourne to the west and NSW to the east.

This investment will allow VicRoads to look at ways to ensure Bank Street and Breed Street intersections meet the community’s changing needs.

VicRoads will continue to consult with local residents and businesses about the Bank Street intersection, and will continue to talk with the community about improvements for the Breed Street intersection.

Treatment options being investigated include the installation of traffic signals at the Bank Street intersection and capacity improvements at the Breed Street intersection’s traffic signals, viaduct and roundabout.

A business case for network improvements will be developed.
