Thursday, June 11, 2020

The foundation principal has been appointed to lead the new Timbertop (Officer North West) Primary School (interim name), which is set to open in 2021 and provide more student places for local families.

Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing MP, today announced Nathan Jagoe will lead Timbertop (Officer North West) Primary School as it prepares to open its doors to its first students in 2021.

Nathan Jagoe has an incredible passion for ensuring all students achieve high levels of learning and uses the framework of Professional Learning Communities to do this. He has been working in education for more than 20 years, with the past four-and-a-half years as principal at Koo Wee Rup Primary School.

A Meet the Principal event will be held later this year, giving local families an opportunity to meet the principal. Over the coming months, new principals will work with the local community, students and parents to build a school for the area that embodies excellence and opportunity for learners.

To establish the school with strong foundations, new principals will appoint talented and committed staff and build relationships with families and the community. They will also work closely with the architects and builders to provide the right environment for students to achieve their best.

Timbertop (Officer North West) Primary School is among 14 new schools to open in 2021. When complete, Timbertop (Officer North West) Primary School will include two learning neighbourhoods, an administration building, outdoor play courts, a performing arts and physical education building, an arts, science and food technology building, and a sports field.

Under the Victorian Government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will open by 2026, ensuring every child can access a great local school where students can achieve their best.

The Victorian Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a great education.
