JUNIOR LANDCARE AND BIODIVERSITY GRANTS NOW OPEN

Tuesday, 5 June 2018

The Andrews Labor Government today announced $400,000 in funding for Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants, to help kids across the state protect Victoria’s environment.

Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing is encouraging local groups to apply for the fund, which is open to Victorian schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, and scouts, guides and youth groups.

Grants of up to $5,000 will be available to fund projects that boost biodiversity through the development, improvement or restoration of habitat for Victoria’s native plants and animals.

Grants will also be available for programs that engage or educate young people to value and actively care for Victoria’s natural environment.

The grants will encourage young people across Victoria to learn more about the environment through outdoor, hands-on activities.

The grants will be administered by Landcare Australia as part of their Junior Landcare program, in partnership with the Department of Environment, Land, Water, and Planning.
