GETTING ON WITH BUILDING A SAFER COMMUNITY IN SALE

The Andrews Labor Government is investing in upgrades to improve safety and community confidence around the Sale CBD and help cut down on crime.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced over $213,000 in funding for Wellington Shire Council to install CCTV cameras in the CBD.
CCTV cameras will be installed within nine targeted high risk crime areas in the Sale CBD, and will be monitored and recorded by Victoria Police.
The project has received funding through the latest round of Public Safety Infrastructure Fund grants, with 20 councils across Victoria to share in more than $3.4 million funding for 20 projects.
The Public Safety Infrastructure Fund grants program supports projects that improve community safety and confidence in public places.
It is part of the Labor Government’s $19.4 million investment in its Community Crime Prevention Program, aimed at tackling crime and its root causes.
This funding is on top of the record $2 billion investment made by the Labor Government for police resourcing across Victoria, including for seven Police Custody Officers at Sale Police Station to get sworn police officers back on the beat and not babysitting suspects in custody.
