CELEBRATING 120 L2P LICENSES IN YARRA RANGES

Saturday 19th October 2019

The Andrews Labor Government is celebrating 120 young people getting their probationary licence by completing the Yarra Ranges L2P program delivered by Yarra Ranges Council.

The highly successful TAC Learner Driver Mentor Program (L2P) supports young learner drivers aged 16-21 years who may not have access to a supervising driver or vehicle to gain the driving experience needed to apply for a probationary licence.

Eligible young Victorians are matched with fully licensed volunteer mentors and have access to a sponsored vehicle, which they can use to get supervised driving experience.

The program is free for Victorians aged between 16 and 21 who hold a current learner’s permit but do not have access to a vehicle, supervising driver, or both who may be disadvantaged by the Graduated Licensing System.

Over the past 10 years, L2P drivers have clocked up more than half a million supervised driving hours, helping more than 6,000 young Victorians get their probationary licence and get on the road.

The Labor Government invested $33.4 million earlier this year to continue the L2P program for at least four more years and will keep Victoria’s roads safer by reducing the number of unlicensed drivers on our roads.
