BUILDING A BETTER SCHOOL AT LONGWARRY PRIMARY SCHOOL

Monday, 21 March 2016

Longwarry Primary School students and staff will soon enjoy an upgraded dining area and school kitchen to support their Breakfast Club Program.

After speaking in Parliament in support of the funding and raising the issue with the Minister for Education James Merlino, Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing MP today announced that the school will receive $30,000 from the Andrews Labor Government for a school kitchen upgrade.

The upgrade will include improvements to the kitchen and dining area, which will also serve as a parent and community meeting space.

The school will contribute $7,000 towards the upgrade.

The Andrews Labor Government is committed to building the Education State and that means ensuring all Victorian kids get access to a supportive, encouraging and inspiring education, regardless of their locations or circumstances.

The Education State is about taking our education system from good to great, and this starts with fixing our schools and building the right infrastructure to support our kids to thrive.

Longwarry Primary School will also receive equity funding of $88,620 this year – $49,256 more than 2015 – as part of an increase of more than 70 per cent in equity funding for Victorian Government schools to help break the cycle of disadvantage.
