TELLING THE STORIES OF GIPPSLAND VETERANS

Wednesday, 17 April 2019

The Andrews Labor Government is keeping the legacy of veterans alive for future generations in Gippsland.

Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing and Victorian Veterans Council have welcomed $7,200 for the Gippstown Reserve Committee for the provision of banners and memorial plaques for the Garden of Remembrance and Military History Banners at Old Gippstown in Moe.

The grant was awarded as part of the Victoria Remembers Minor Grant Program which funds educational and commemorative activities that honour Australia’s war and service history.

The Garden of Remembrance and Military History Banners will deliver educational outcomes to visitors, including young students.

It is one of 19 grants funded through the Program, sharing more than $165,000.

Along with the Major Grants and Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour Grant programs, it is part of almost $420,000 that will go to support veterans’ initiatives.

Remembering the stories of our veterans is an important mark of respect and it reminds us of our shared values.
