NEW SPEED BOOSTS SAFETY FOR SCHOOL KIDS

Thursday, 27 September 2018

A new reduced speed limit on Bayview Avenue in Inverloch will significantly improve safety for local school children and pedestrians at Inverloch Kongwak Primary School.

Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing, said the new 40km/h speed on Bayview Avenue (Korumburra-Inverloch Road) between Edgar Street and Garden Crescent will come into effect today.

This coincides with the extension of the existing 40km/h limit on William Street (Bunurong Road) by approximately 250 metres to include the intersections of Murray Street and Bruce Street.

The speed changes follow a recent incident where a child was struck by a vehicle when crossing the road outside Inverloch Kongwak Primary School.

The Andrews Labor Government and Regional Roads Victoria worked with the school, council and community to investigate ways to improve safety and this safer speed is the first step.

New signage has been installed on the road to make drivers aware of the new speed limits.
