MORE FREE CAR PARKS FOR LATROBE VALLEY LOCALS

Tuesday, 20 November 2018

The hunt for a car park will be easier for Traralgon and Morwell locals with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to fund more free car parking across the Valley.

Labor has driven a massive construction blitz for the Latrobe Valley – upgrading local roads and rail, modernising local schools and TAFEs, and will deliver the next stage of the Latrobe Regional Hospital rebuild.

The Morwell GovHub is on its way, delivering more jobs right here in the Latrobe Valley, helping to transform the area and driving more economic growth.

But there’s more to do, and only Labor will build 800 extra free car parks across Traralgon and Morwell, taking the pressure off neighbouring streets and making it easier to get in and out of the area for work, education and health appointments.

This is part of our $30 million Regional Car Parks Fund, which is also delivering free car parks for Ballarat.

Labor will work with Council and the local community to determine locations of the car parks in Traralgon and Morwell. This investment is expected to create and support around 40 jobs for the Latrobe Valley.

While the former Liberal National Government completely abandoned the Valley during the mine fire, while also cutting funding for schools, hospitals, road and rail – only Labor can be trusted to deliver the jobs and major projects that the Valley communities depend upon.

“Driving around to find a car park can be frustrating and time consuming. That’s why Labor will invest in more free car parks for the Valley to take the stress out of getting to work, TAFE, health appointments or the shops.”

“Whether it’s rebuilding the Latrobe Regional Hospital, modernising local schools, delivering the major Gippsland Line upgrade or creating 800 new car parks – only Labor will invest in the Valley.”

“800 extra free car parks will reduce the frustration that locals know all too well and only Labor has the track record to deliver them.”

“Finding parking in Morwell and Traralgon has become progressively harder as the retail, employment, health and TAFE opportunities in the Valley continue to grow. We’re proud to support this momentum by delivering the extra car parking that our communities need.”
