LABOR BOOST TO PROVIDE UNIFORMS & BOOKS FOR KIDS IN GIPPSLAND

Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing MP welcomed news that students in Gippsland will directly benefit from additional funding for school uniforms, shoes, books and stationery through State Schools’ Relief.

The Andrews Labor Government’s $15.6 million commitment will enable State Schools’ Relief to significantly increase the number of students receiving financial help. This year 35,000 students will receive assistance, up from the 10,000 young people who were supported by the program last year.

For 85 years, State Schools’ Relief has worked with government schools to help parents who are struggling with the costs of educating their children. State Schools’ Relief is the leading agency providing this type of assistance to students in Victorian government schools.

Schools can apply online to State Schools’ Relief at www.ssr.net.au/schools to get support for students who need help with appropriate uniforms and footwear for school.

Families looking for support through the program should contact their child’s school directly.
