BOOSTING COMMUNITY FACILITIES IN CARDINIA

Wednesday 29 January 2020

Cardinia residents are set to benefit from more great community facilities thanks to the latest round of funding from the Andrews Labor Government.

Local Government Minister Adem Somyurek has today announced that three projects in Cardinia Shire are among 32 successful projects which will receive funding from the latest ground of the Growing Suburbs Fund.

The Fund is delivering $50 million towards community facilities, enhanced services and greater opportunities in Melbourne’s 10 rapidly growing interface councils.

The three Cardinia Shire Council projects receiving a share of $6.7 million are:

  • Officer South Integrated Child and Family Centre – $1.5 million towards a new facility including kindergarten space for 264 kids and five consultation rooms for child and maternal health services.
  • My Place Youth Facility Expansion and Relocation – $3 million to support a new home for a range of youth and community organisations, Government bodies and education providers for young people in Pakenham.
  • Officer District Park – $2.2 million to fast forward the delivery of a new 10-hectare park, including an accessible play area, skate park and Victoria’s first accessible mountain boarding trail.

This investment takes the total Growing Suburbs Fund commitment to Cardinia Shire Council to $25.2 million for 13 projects over the last five years.

Across Greater Melbourne, the Fund has now supported 193 projects, invested $250 million and leveraged a combined investment of $665 million, creating more than 6750 jobs.
