BETTER LINKAGES FOR WARRAGUL’S COMMUNITY ASSETS

A project linking some of Warragul’s key community assets was officially opened today by the Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing.

In Warragul representing Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford, Ms Shing said the Andrews Labor Government was proud to invest $309,000 in the Linking Warragul’s Community Assets Project.

The project has addressed a key missing link between residential developments and Western Park Oval, schools, the Warragul Railway Station precinct, CBD and sporting infrastructure to Warragul’s south-east.

It has constructed a 600 metre shared cycle way and footpath extension of the existing Two Towns trail, a seven kilometre off-road pathway linking Drouin to Warragul.

The project also redeveloped Rotary Park as the trail’s new start and end point by installing new playground equipment, developing pathways to better connect surrounding housing to the park and Trail, landscaping, and installing park benches, bike racks and signage.

Andrews Government funding for the $429,000 Linking Warragul’s Community Assets project was provided to Baw Baw Shire Council, which contributed $80,000 along with $40,000 from the Warragul Rotary Club.
