ARCHITECT APPOINTED FOR WANDIN NORTH SCHOOL UPGRADE

Better facilities are on their way for students at Wandin North Primary School with the appointment of an architect to design the school’s important upgrade thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced Architecture Matters Pty Ltd would design works to be undertaken at Wandin North Primary School to deliver an upgrade to an outdoor area to create a safe all-weather play and assembly area.

The Andrews Government has provided $195,165 to this project.

The Victorian Budget 2020/21 invests $70 million in the new Minor Capital Works Fund, which includes $20 million as previously announced as part of the Building Works Package.

Schools have been allocated funding to fast-track priority projects under the Minor Capital Works Fund to improve learning environments as well as the condition and character of schools.

In the past five years, the Victorian Government has invested more than $9 billion in more than 1,600 school upgrades – creating more than 10,000 construction jobs – and is now ahead of schedule its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022.
