HARRIET’S SPEECH ON VOLUNTARY ASSISTED DYING FRIDAY, 3RD NOVEMBER, 2017

I rise today to speak on the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017, and in doing so I want to begin by acknowledging the vast number of contributions that have been made to elected representatives, including me, in the course of this particular debate. We have seen an extensive parliamentary inquiry. We have seen an expert medical panel's consideration and report, which culminated in recommendations which have been adopted as the basis for this bill.

AUSTRALIAN MARRIAGE LAW POSTAL SURVEY

I rise today to address members of the LGBTIQ community, their families, their friends, their workmates and colleagues and people who love them exactly as they are. The marriage equality postal survey is having an enormous effect on us as LGBTIQ people.

STRZELECKI RANGES TIMBER HARVESTING

The matter I wish to raise this evening is for the attention of the Minister for Agriculture, Ms Pulford. It relates to a meeting that I attended last Thursday night in Mirboo North, where VicForests has coupes on the timber release plan in the Strzelecki state forest north of this particular town.

I have a question today for the Minister for Sport in relation to the National Basketball League (NBL) preseason blitz, which began yesterday, kicking off in Traralgon and running until Sunday.

Gippsland Dairy Industry

In Gippsland, the area from which I hail, I am unashamedly biased on the product that comes from that part of the world. To my mind we have some of the best grazing country and some of the most formidable genetic lines for dairy produce.
