ON THE HOP TO THE EASTER TROTS AT THE 2019 WARRAGUL CUP
Thursday, 18 April 2019
The Andrews Labor Government is backing the Warragul Harness Racing Club to make it bigger and better than ever this Easter Sunday with a joint funding package worth more than $34,000.
The Labor Government is providing more than $11,000 from its Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program to support the event this Sunday.
Logan Park will be an ideal place to spend Easter Sunday, with a host of children’s activities to keep the whole family entertained, including a reptile and animal farm, a jumping castle and an Easter bonnet parade.
Racegoers will also get a taste of medieval life with jousting and sword craft displays performed by two roving knights who will entertain patrons throughout the day.
For the less adventurous, there will be live music on-course, pony trots and other Easter themed activities, including plenty of chocolate to go around.
The Warragul Harness Racing Club is providing more than $14,500 towards the event, while Harness Racing Victoria will provide $6,000 and $2,750 will be contributed in-kind.
Since 2014, the Labor Government has approved $89,488 to support seven harness racing events and two infrastructure projects for the Warragul Harness Racing Club.
The racing industry in the Latrobe-Gippsland region alone generates more than $145.6 million for the Victorian economy annually and helps sustain more than 1,200 full time equivalent jobs in the region.
