Thursday, 28 May 2020

Students at the Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School will soon have access to the first-rate classrooms and facilities they deserve, with the announcement of a contractor being appointed for the capital works project.

Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing today announced the contract has been awarded to Bowden Corporation Pty Ltd, for construction on the $3,451,000 million upgrade, which will help it deliver a 21st century education.

The upgrade will include construction of a New Junior Learning Building and associated outdoor learning areas and covered walkway.

Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School also shared in $388.8 million for 57 upgrade and modernisation projects at schools across Victoria. An additional $10 million for Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School was announced earlier this month to deliver the next stage of the masterplan, including construction of the Middle Years Learning Building and Specialist Spaces.

The Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School upgrade will create local jobs.

Under the Andrews Labor Government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will open by 2026, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.

The Andrews Labor Government has invested $6.1 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 7,500 construction jobs for Victorians.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a quality education.
