HARRIET SHING ENCOURAGES LOCALS TO ENTER PREMIER’S SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS

Thursday 22nd March 2018

The member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing, is urging local sustainability stars to enter the 2018 Premier’s Sustainability Awards and spotlight the breadth of environmental success across the region.

“I know that across Gippsland there are many individuals, schools, community organisations and companies that are making a difference and doing exciting and rewarding sustainability work.

“The Premier’s Sustainability Awards are there for people to share their efforts and be recognised for them,” Ms Shing said.
“Our schools, businesses and community groups have a lot to be proud of when it comes to sustainability – let’s tell their stories and inspire others through Victoria’s most celebrated sustainability awards program.”

Now in their 16th year, the Awards are open in ten categories:
• Built Environment
• Community
• Education
• Environmental Justice
• Environmental Protection
• Government
• Health
• Innovative Products or Services
• Small and Medium Enterprises
• Large Business

“I am so proud that there are many local sustainability leaders and, with a category for everyone and every group, I would be delighted to see them enter this year.

“The Victorian Premier’s Sustainability Awards are a great way to demonstrate how passionate and committed we are to reducing our environmental footprint, helping to stop the effects of climate change and creating a more liveable, engaged, prosperous community,” she said.

Entries in the Premier’s Sustainability Awards close on Thursday 7 June. Visit the website www.sustainabilityawards.vic.gov.au for more information and to read about last year’s inspiring finalists.
