I rise today to congratulate the Cape Paterson Surf Life Saving Club. Its president, Dean Manns, along with other advocates, including Kate McLaughlin, have done so much to be able to secure funding totalling $3.2 million from the Andrews Labor government, alongside $500 000 from Bass Coast Shire Council and an incredible $800 000 raised by the local community.

It is a sign of the disregard of the federal government — the coalition — for Victoria and for regional Victoria when we look at the cuts to health and hospital funding which it has imposed to the tune of over $2 billion across the state.
It is good to be back. My question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, and I ask him about the work in relation to the introduction of flexible wire safety barriers throughout Gippsland and along major roads not just as far as Central Gippsland through to the Latrobe Valley but down into South Gippsland.
We have heard a lot in relation to this motion since it was first brought on for debate, and as Mr Eideh has just indicated, there is a lot more that could be said about it.
